About Me
I was born in California, although I was raised in New Zealand and have lived here since I was 4 years old.
I have been interested in maths and programming for as long as I can remember. As a child I started programming through Microworlds EX, then Scratch, then Python. I mostly gravitated towards simulations and games. I’ve participated in several game jams, although these games are sadly lost to time.
From 14–16 I was heavily involved in a collaboratively run Minecraft resource pack called Soartex Fanver. This was an incredibly rewarding experience and gave me a lasting interest in visual design.
I have also always enjoyed learning mathematics. In highschool I attended the NZ International Maths Olympiad training camp, which is quite competitive (I unfortunately did not qualify for the competition itself). I graduated with a BSc with Honours in maths at the University of Auckland, and then went on to complete a PhD. (At some point I will write more about my research on this site.)
I enjoy learning new programming languages and have dabbled in just about everything from C to Uiua. My current favourite programming language is Julia. I most commonly work with TypeScript these days, since it’s the easiest way to share projects with people.
Other interests of mine include electronic music production and board games. I have an interest in spirituality (particularly Buddhism-flavoured) and related theories of mind, although I don’t consider myself spiritual.
I am currently looking for a job. If you are looking to hire someone good at deep and creative problem solving with extensive coding experience, then please send me an email!
